Best Prop Betting Strategy
Most prop betting advice is either too vague to use or too specific to repeat. A real strategy is a repeatable process: pick markets you can price, compare prices across books, and manage the bankroll.
This is the process we actually use.
The four-step prop process
One: bet markets you can price. Total bases, assists, and receptions are priceable with basic stat models. Exotic markets with no public baseline are where the book’s edge is biggest. Stay where you can compute a fair number.
Two: compare before you bet. The same prop is priced differently at every book. A 10-cent edge on every bet compounds fast. This is non-negotiable if you bet props regularly.
Three: watch line movement. A line that moves against you is information. If the market is moving and you do not know why, size down or pass.
Four: stake flat or by edge. Fixed fractional stakes on your best bets keep variance survivable. Never chase losses with bigger stakes.
What the pros actually track
A results log with the price you took, not just the win/loss. Your edge is in the prices you beat, and you can only measure that if you record them. Review monthly: which markets are you actually beating, and which are quietly bleeding?
Frequently asked questions
What is the best prop betting strategy?+
The reliable one is: bet markets you can price, compare the same prop across books for the best price, watch line movement, and stake flat or by edge. No single-market gimmick beats that process over time.
How much bankroll should I use per prop bet?+
A common rule is 1-3% of bankroll per bet, depending on edge confidence. The key is consistency: the strategy fails when stakes swing with emotion, not when they are small.
Why does price comparison matter so much for props?+
Prop prices vary more between books than game lines do, so the same bet can cost 5-10% more at one book than another. Comparing before betting is the cheapest, most reliable edge in prop betting.
