proppicks - odds methodology
How proppicks sources, normalizes, and updates the odds you see.
In one sentence
proppicks pulls live player-prop odds from the public providers it currently tracks and shows them in one view. Coverage and refresh timing depend on the source feed.
Data sources
Odds are retrieved from providers that publish through publicly available price feeds (public API or data endpoint). Coverage changes as feeds and events change. proppicks does not manually enter odds; prices are fetched programmatically on a rolling refresh.
Coverage
- Leagues: MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL.
- Markets: player props (strikeouts, hits, total bases, points, rebounds, assists, passing yards, rushing yards, and similar single-player stat lines).
Normalization
Prices are converted into a consistent format - standard American moneyline odds with over/under values - so the latest posted price is directly readable. Book names and prop labels are normalized to a canonical form across the site.
Update cadence
Odds are refreshed automatically on a rolling basis. Exact refresh interval can vary by market and by sportsbook feed availability.
Accuracy and disclaimer
While proppicks aims to reflect current public prices, odds are provided "as is" and may lag or differ from the live book at the moment of placement. Always confirm the final price at the sportsbook before wagering. proppicks is a comparison and research tool and does not place bets or act as a sportsbook.
