What Is a Player Prop?
A player prop is a bet on a specific statistical achievement by an individual player. It has three parts: the player, the market (what stat), and the line (the number setting the over/under).
Understanding the Line
Most player props use an over/under format. The sportsbook sets a number, and you bet whether the player will go over or under that number.

Alternate Lines
Most sportsbooks offer alternate lines — different O/U numbers with different odds. For LeBron James Points, you might see Over 25.5 (-110), Over 30.5 (+220), or Over 20.5 (-250).
Implied Probability
To evaluate value, convert odds to implied probability. For -110 odds: 110/(110+100) = 52.4%. If you believe the actual probability is higher, the prop has positive expected value.
